After the recent lecture of the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan to an overseas delegation of Pakistani citizens, the social media reacted to the contents of his speech. Media houses of Pakistan who are the puppets of the deep state trumpeted praises, but some who dare speak the truth analysed the impact of that speech to tear him apart for the hatred which was evident within him for India. Then they expect better relations with us.
One of his statements was about the path of progress Pakistan had already set foot on. That means things would look better economically and financially in Pakistan. There would be some relief from the rising prices of commodities. The poor would be relieved hopefully.
On a little research, it was shocking for me to read that approximately about 40% of Pakistan has been slated to live below the poverty line which means two out of five Pakistanis are experiencing extreme poverty. The reasons and their solutions to eradicate poverty are the concern of their government but then how are people surviving in that country?
Food definitely would be unaffordable, water I believe is a crisis, electricity is beyond reach, petrol is the fuel of the rich, roti is unaffordable, people are turning vegetarians as prices of gosht are out of hand. Suffice to say, life is tough for a man on ‘dehari’. People cannot even afford labour, so where does this person go?
Pakistan on the other hand is looking forward to investments to boost their economy. Would any country be willing to step foot on their soil within the existing conditions of disturbance, insurgency, suicide bombings etc. Of course, Army Chief Saab knows how to handle things and make Pakistan a better place to invest and work.
Just setting up industry will not suffice to improve their economy. They would need to export things to earn revenue.
What do you think are the major exports that Pakistan does besides terrorists? Terror factories have mushroomed all over and are being run under the nose of the government agencies including the army who have no control on them.
So, what do they export? Donkeys, yes you heard it right. A report said that they have decided to export donkeys and donkey meat and hides to China. The agreement is for 216,000 donkeys annually. That must be a shipload for sure. The population of donkeys in Pakistan being about 5.2 million, third largest globally, is their best bet to earn some ‘chamre ke sikke’.
India exports brains and our neighbour….
The other most significant export to the world from Pakistan is ‘beggars’. You heard it right. A report recently said that about 4700 people were deported from Saudi Arabia back to Pakistan, 50% of those people were beggars. Not only from Saudi Arabia, Pakistani citizens are also being deported regularly from Iran, UAE, Turkey, UK, Oman, Greece, US, India etc. All are not beggars but most of them travelled illegally.
Most of them are poor but in garb of doing Umrah and Hajj, they get passports and necessary clearances. Many of them fall prey to the human trafficking mafia. Once they are there, begging is the only way to survive. Out of their earnings they have to dish out as much as half of their earnings to these mafias.
Even after repeated warnings issued to Pakistan by Saudi Arabia about the influx of beggars to their country, because it not only undermines the sanctity of religious pilgrimages but violates local laws also, it still happens.
The Mafia exploits children and forces them into begging. They also prey on street children, disabled individuals (genuine and fake) and marginalised groups like the third gender, which become easy targets. They could be recruited as beggars by coercion, abduction, physical mutilation, and psychological manipulation. These people are strategically placed at religious places, traffic signals etc. Once they learn the tricks of the trade they are exported.
The rot runs deep within the state of Pakistan. Corruption in their system is a major cause for such mafias to flourish. The feather in their cap is that 90% of the beggars deported from gulf countries are Pakistanis.
I heard somewhere that their ministry of finance may offer to take a loan which may run into billions of dollars from these beggars to repay their loans. What a joke and it may be true. Desperate times lead to desperate measures.
I am no one to advise a country which is already battling with so many internal issues. But it was an eye opener to understand that there are three things which they love to export. Terrorists, Donkeys and Beggars. Allah help them.
Be that as it may. Kab sudhrega Pakistan? I wonder!!!!!!!
