I have been quiet on this ongoing war in Iran. The more it prolongs, the more I feel disillusioned about what is in store for the world and us. Those who are fighting are bearing the brunt. Many innocents, who are not fighting/involved are also being bombed to smithereens. Some countries are neutral but are coming to a grinding halt because they are running out of petrol and gas. Thanks to Mr Trump. (Nominee for the ‘Nobel War Prize 2026’).
We
claimed victory in the 1971 war, 93,000 prisoners and created a new country. We
were victors during Op Kargil & Sindoor. We started rising economically and
then we are being thrown over the precipice by the one and only sitting
thousands of kilometers away, who has no business to ‘poke his nose’ in other
people’s affairs.
It
reminds me of a British comedy series called “Mind Your Language” which we used
to watch very intently in our childhood. There is now a need to remake another
one called “Mind Your Business”.
The
first one taught us grammar, diction, language and its usage, interpersonal
relationship, team building etc. However, the Indian and Pakistani students
could never see eye to eye ‘with a thousand apologies’. It was conceived then
and is true till date.
China
and Japan were logger heads in that serial, said “Chailman Mao”. The
‘Japaneseo’ were ‘besto’ in technology-o then. A few countries did not
understand a word of English and kept repeating ‘Por favor’. The only thing
which attracted everyone were the ‘chicks. Moment, they came to the scene, the
classroom used to be at peace. All eyes, including the teachers, were focused
on the ‘agenda’.
The
‘Principal’ used to be a grumpy old lady who was never satisfied with anyone
including the English teacher. She did not like the foreign students either.
She fired the teacher and even some of the students temporarily, only to
realise that she needed a teacher and without her students her institution was
of no use. The UN is one such institution today. Do nothing, except giving
moral lectures.
The
best part of that serial was that everyone was good at something. Every student
had a quality which they brought as a tradition from their country. Whatever be
their differences, either they could sort them out themselves, or with the
mediation of the teacher. Same is the situation today. Someone is trying
to mediate and be the messenger. You know what I mean.
There
was this lady called ‘Gladis’, the tea room incharge. She served tea/coffee and
biscuits aka oil/natural gas and fertilizers but on payment. If you did not
have money, you were denied that cup of tea. If someone paid for you, she would
serve it without questions.
Gladis
was controlled by the principal. The services offered to ‘Ms Courtney’ were
special. A tea cozy was her additional privilege because she was all powerful
and dominating and acted like a tyrant. Like someone is doing it now.
Then
there was this Italian student. He could pick up a fight with all and sundry. I
am not referring to Israel at all. Bomb this, bomb that no. He even ‘proposed’
to the principal. At the end of the day, all the students would unite, even go
for a picnic, driven by their janitor. Mind you, I have not thought of a
country who fits the bill for the janitor’s character. You guys may like to
suggest one.
In
between, to check how this class was doing, the ‘inspectors’ came. They went
around the class but the students decided not to cooperate. Inspectors
questioned them, cajoled them, prompted them, threatened them, gave hints but
the students didn’t budge. Same must have happened with the IAEA. They knew
that the students knew how to make a nuclear bomb from enriched uranium, but
could not extract what they wanted to.
My
humble submission to the two attackers is to stop the war at once. Remember,
the Romans and Greek civilizations perished but Persians survived and they
shall not let any “Trump, Bibi or Harry” do much harm. They have decided to
fight back rather pay back in the same coin, show resilience and prove the
aggressors wrong.
The
‘bomb’ is now in the court of the stronger ones. The weaker are slapping them
left right and center. Like kids, when we were about to lose a game of carrom,
we used to disturb the whole board and run away. That is what the US will do if
it destroys the Iranian infrastructure and facilities. Non-Sportsman like I
would say. Stop the killings please. Israel, are you listening?
Would
the US in general and Mr Trump in particular mind their own business? I
wonder!!!!!!
