FRESH ANTI TERRORIST OPERATION LAUNCHED

 FRESH ANTI TERRORIST OPERATION LAUNCHED

Pakistan is on a cusp of disaster. This is being said by their own elected/selected representatives in parliament and openly. They have so little money to spend and too much to ‘defend’ figuratively.

Both China and the IMF have given out their plan of action. Increase taxes, says IMF to repay loans. Provide fool proof security for our projects, says China or else forget it.

Their electricity crisis has reached another extreme where the ‘honest’ common man cannot pay his bills. The dishonest are stealing electricity and the privileged are getting it free. What an irony!

Be that as it may. In this financial crisis they have increased their Military Budget by almost 4.5%. To justify their existence Pak Army have started a new Anti Terrorist Op called “Asm-i-Istekam”.

Asm-i-Istekam means “Rejection of Strife” or “Elimination of Strife”. What a bombastic name! they do not realise what “strife” actually encompasses the following: -

Strife means trouble, discontent, conflict, discord, contention, fighting, unhappiness, worry, anxiety, misfortune, disgruntlement, battle, war, skirmish, struggle, dissonance, disharmony, discordance, dispute, disagreement, hostility, rebelliousness, anger, annoyance, misery, sorrow, sadness, tension, unrest, bitterness, incongruity, revolution, insurrection, mutiny, disloyalty and so on and so forth.

How can Pakistan justify the rejection of strife when they have so many terrorist groups as given at https://www.satp.org/terrorist-groups/pakistan? No wonder, they have so many to spare to infiltrate across to India. There appears to be a never-ending stream of terrorists readily available with them.

The process of pulling funds in the name of antiterrorist ops started way back continues till date. What results have they achieved? Zilch!  Some were also given in the newspaper called Dawn: -

1.      Operation Enduring Freedom (2001–2002),

2.       Operation Al Mizan (Balance) (2002–2006),

3.      Operation Zalzala (Earthquake) (2008),

4.      Op Rah-i-Haq-I and II (Way towards truth)

5.      Op Sirat-i-Mustakeem (Asking Allah to guide them on a straight path)

6.      Op Sherdil (Brave Lion)

7.      OP Rah-i-Haq-III

8.      Op Black Thunder

9.      Op Rah-i-Rast (Straight Road)

10.   Op- Rah-i-Najat (Way of Salvation)

11.   Op Zarb-i-Asb (Sharp and cutting strike)

12.   Op Radh-ul-Fasad (Elimination of strife)

13.   Op Azm-i-Istehkam (Strong commitment of stability)

As per DAWN, “Azm-i-Istehkam is an overall national vision of a multifaceted cooperation of various security agencies and the entire state system,” as quoted by PM Shehbaz Sharif. “For this purpose, ongoing Intelligence-Based Operations (IBOs) will be intensified rather than launching a new and organised armed operation,” he added. The aim of the campaign would be to “decisively root out the remnants of terrorist elements, the criminal-terrorist nexus, and violent extremism from the country”.

Would you believe the above statement by the PM? Four small states are in no one's control. Their ‘Ashrafia’ are on their own grid and their ‘Afwaaj’ care two hoots for their peoples representatives.

People are on the roads. Unemployed are dealing with corrupt officials, under the barrel of the gun. Their Army has used Artillery guns, drones attacks, air attacks and what not against their own people. People now are not willing to take things lying down.

Their Army, I feel, does not know whom to tackle and how. TTP is not the only group to handle. Besides, FATA, KPK, Balochistan, and other tribal areas have all been neglected and kept out of the loop of development and mainstreaming. It is but natural that they will retaliate or leave the country.

Every governmental agency has a ‘mai-baap’ except the Pak fauj. Afwaaj are ‘uncontrollable’ by the selected civilian government. Their media has been muzzled. Forces are in a total disconnect with their people. The majority of forces being from Punjab do not understand the sense and sensibilities of the weak, downtrodden, tribals, backward and such like people. What do they expect to deliver then?

When they object to India deploying forces in Kashmir, it is absolutely double speak. Brigades and Divisions have been deployed and used against militants which have run amuck after being trained by themselves. Too late for them to now reign them in. Can they justify the amount spent to eliminate terrorism in Pakistan? I doubt it.

Pakistan can keep launching operation after operation, their state will remain the same. Unless common people rule their country, unless everyone is on board, unless they get on with proper education and reboot their country all over again, they have no future.

Every country has an Army but their army has a country. What will they name their next Anti-Terrorist Operation? I wonder!!!!!

SCENE AT ELLIS’ RESTAURANT

LT COL NOEL ELLIS   04/XI/2024   Every morning the scene in the Ellis’ restaurant is so refreshing. The notes birds sing sounds like ‘reveille’ being sounded by the buglers. The ‘scenario’ keeps varying with arrival of different birds at different timings.   It is like being a restaurant owner, working solo with minimum help. Yours truly is the waiter, housekeeper, cook, receptionist, barman, purchase manager, accountant, and storekeeper of this shack. Imagine!   Foremost thing in the morning is housekeeping of the garden area, followed by watering the pots. This gives the plants a nice bath, like kids being readied for school.   The first set of ‘clients’ called the ‘Tailor Birds’ appear. They love to hunt for insects which get disturbed by the watering ritual. They sing and dance, hop and skip and carry on chasing moths and worms, without bothering about my presence.   By then the Bulbuls and the Sparrows start lining up around the trees, urging me to ‘o

LOCUST WITHOUT A “L”

LOCUST WITHOUT A “L”   LT COL NOEL ELLIS   14/IX/2024   They say if you wish for something with a noble heart, it gets fulfilled. Had I asked for the moon, I would have got it today. Was it a coincidence? I am not sure. To find out please read on.   A friend of mine had asked me about ‘good’ and ‘bad’ insects in a garden, on which I wrote an article. In that, I had mentioned a kind of grasshopper called the ‘Locust’. It is a bright yellowish green insect. It is sometimes seen in our garden. They create havoc if found in swarms, but one or two do not harm much.   After writing the article, I wished I had a photo of the Locust. Digging it out from the archives could add colour but that would have been time consuming.   Having posted the article, I walked out of the house to check on the blooms of the day. There was a large variety with vibrant colours gracing the garden. A treat to the eyes and soul.   Just then my eyes fell on a bamboo stick supporting a vi
